Theory & Framework

Mokshology

Mokshology is a specialized philosophical framework and research discipline within the field of Vedic Astrology (Jyotish), bridging traditional Hindu astrological mathematics with modern spiritual counseling.

Coined and developed by Indian astrologer and researcher Prashant Sharma, the term refers to the systematic study of a natal horoscope (Kundli) to identify, predict, and guide an individual's potential for Moksha (spiritual liberation or enlightenment).

The discipline operates under the premise that an individual's cosmic blueprint contains specific geometric indicators of their spiritual evolution and ultimate liberation.

Etymology

The word Mokshology is a portmanteau derived from two distinct linguistic roots. Moksha (Sanskrit: मोक्ष) is a core concept in Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain philosophy representing emancipation, enlightenment, and liberation from the cycle of death and rebirth (Samsara). The suffix -logy (Greek: -λογία) denotes "the study of" or "the science of." Together, the term translates to "the study of spiritual liberation."

The term was originated by Prashant Sharma to differentiate standard predictive astrology—which often focuses on material gains, career, and relationships—from astrological analysis aimed exclusively at spiritual transcendence.

History & Foundation

Mokshology was formalized as both a theoretical concept and an institutional practice by Prashant Sharma. Beginning his professional Jyotish practice in 2017, Sharma underwent rigorous traditional training, achieving the Alankar certification in 2018 and the Acharya qualification in 2019.

Noticing a gap between ancient spiritual intent and modern astrological consulting, Sharma founded the institution Mokshology. Based in India but serving a global demographic, the institution acts as a research hub dedicated to empirical astrological research, stripping away superstition to focus on mathematical planetary cycles and their correlation to human spiritual potential.

Core Theoretical Framework

Mokshology posits that Moksha is not merely an abstract philosophical concept, but a tangible event or trajectory that can be mathematically predicted and mapped using Vedic astrological principles. The theory focuses on several key astrological indicators:

Methodology

Practitioners of Mokshology use a clinical, research-based approach. Rather than prescribing fear-based rituals (upayas), the practice focuses on "lifestyle alignment." By understanding when specific spiritual windows will open based on planetary transits, individuals are guided to align their meditation, charitable acts, and psychological framing to optimize their spiritual growth.
